KSM Jackie Watson has been a member of the Kaiapoi Tuahiwi Community Board since 2010 and Chair since 2021, and has contributed to the Waimakariri district through arts and community initiatives.

Jackie was a major player in the All Together Kaiapoi (ATK) initiative, a community organisation which staged Waitangi Day events and a variety of community festivals that assisted the Kaiapoi community in its post-quake recovery in the decade following the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes. She was a valuable member of the Waimakriri Earthquake Support Service helping affected families.

A member of the Waimakariri Community Arts Council since 1991, she is a founding member of the Kaiapoi Art Expo, now in its 19th year, and has played a key role in developing an Arts Strategy for the district. As Chair of the Waimakariri Public Arts Trust she has increased the number of sculptures in public places. Jackie led the initiative to open a public art space, Art on the Quay, in the Ruataniwha Kaiapoi Civic Centre and has so far organised 100 exhibitions.
